UPDATE: JANUARY 18, 2022 | 12:26 P.M. The Dorchester County Coroner identifies a man killed in a single-vehicle crash that happened Sunday morning near the St. George area. The accident occurred when a passenger vehicle made an abrupt stop on the roadway. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.
